Adoption Fees
Dogs and Puppies
DOGS: All dogs at The Milo Foundation receive any necessary veterinary care, are spayed/neutered and vaccinated, microchipped, and given monthly Heartworm preventative. Dogs over 6 or 8 months of age are Heartworm tested.
For DOGS the adoption fee is $250 - $300. For some, we ask for additional funds, in the form of a tax-deductible donation. Females cost us more to spay and we ask those that can afford it to please help with an additional donation ($25 - $100 suggested.)
These fees help us recover some of our veterinary expenses, so that we have the resources to help other animals. Often we have additional costs with sick or injured animals . If you are able to, please consider an additional tax-deductible donation. We support a population of more than 250 animals at our sanctuary, so any extra funds help support these animals.
PUPPIES: All Puppies at The Milo Foundation receive puppy vaccinations and de-worming. They are also micro-chipped and spay/neutered. Depending on how long Milo has had the puppy and its age, it will likely require additional vaccinations. The adoption fee for a puppy is $300. Additional vaccinations and veterinary care are the responsibility of the adopter. No puppy should be exposed to public dog parks, or unvaccinated dogs, until the full series of vaccinations has been given. However, we do encourage early training and socialization of puppies.
Please fill out the Canine Adoption Application, and send (email) it in - but also make a print out to bring with you when you come to meet the dog or puppy of interest. INCLUDE THE NAME AND ID NUMBER OF THE PET OF INTEREST. Follow up with an email and be patient! Thanks.
NO puppy should be exposed to public dog parks, or areas frequented by dogs - nor should they be exposed to unvaccinated dogs, until the full series of vaccinations has been given. However, we do encourage early training and ongoing socialization of the pups. Visits with known dogs, trips to friends' homes and such, as well as:
# Enrollment in puppy training classes as soon as possible (strongly suggested!).
Cats and Kittens
FELINES: All cats and kittens are Leukemia and FIV tested, vaccinated, have been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and given parasite preventatives.
Adult cats, 10 months and over, require a $125 adoption fee. For females we suggest an additional donation of $25-50, from those who can afford to help us with the additional costs we incur.
If you are able, please consider an additional donation! Any fees above the baseline are tax-deductible - and very much appreciated! KITTENS: $150 for a single kitten. $250 for a pair of kittens.
ALL KITTENS MUST STAY INDOORS, until at least 10 months age, and only let out under safe circumstances, where they can be observed and are away from busy streets. They should be given the outdoor vaccinations at a vet before; Leukemia and Rabies.
Please fill out the Feline Adoption Application, and send (email) it in - but also make a print out to bring with you when you come to meet the kitten or cat of interest. Adopters must be 21 years of age or older, and renters must be able to provide proof of landlord permission to keep a pet in the residence.
* Proof must be sent to Milo whether or not you wish your refund back! Thank you.
